All AlbanyWeb sites have been protected from vulnerability from the Heart Bleed bug.

As part of our ongoing maintenance service, we ensure our server and your website are up to date with the latest patches.  In the recent furore over the heartbleed bug, I was calm in the knowledge that our server was one of the first to be updated with the security patch,  on April 7th at 23:17:01 whilst I slept soundly.  Automatic hourly operating system patches are part of our commitment to reliable hosting.

When Adam and I first started talking through starting a business together, we were very much driven by offering a useful web design service for yoga teachers and studios.  Establishing a presence online when you are just a small one-person outfit (and really have other things you need to do) is really tough.  We felt we had something to offer to make life a little easier.

So we established Yogawebs, our specialist yoga website design and hosting service.

As we started creating lovely and easy to use websites for people, we found that a 'good karma' website was useful for lots of other small groups and individuals - in and out of health and wellbeing activities.  And we found our client list to be extremely diverse:  yoga teachers, bellringers and even novelists!

So as we were bringing our personal, stress-free online vibe to such a diverse range of people, we...

Today we have launched some improvements to our own Yogawebs website - which now has many of the features we want to make available to our Yoga clients.

You can see some obvious changes - the new smaller logo, some smarter text at the top are probably the most obvious.  Also, some of you might notice that most of the images have completely disappeared!  Don't worry - we will be replacing them with new and better images soon.  The blog is a bit neater too.

The most significant change to our website is one you will only notice if you are looking at us using your phone or tablet.  Every part of the website now resizes and rearranges itself nicely to suit whatever screen size you are using.  No more sideways scrolling or zooming!  This feature comes built into every new Yogawebs website too.

In fact, our own Yogawebs website...

After a couple of years of working as a sole-trader, I had come both to love it and to struggle with it.  The freedom is great, but there is the sole responsibility for decisions and money generation; the occasional loneliness of solo work; the fact of being stuck with the jobs I dislike, such as writing readable prose.

So I am delighted to be teaming up with Tina.  We share goals and priorities, and our skills are complementary.  Plus she will listen sympathetically when I want to whinge about the utter unreasonableness of computers.

My husband has been saying for several years that Adam and I should go into business together.  I could never think of a project that would be sufficiently interesting for both of us.

I'm full of ideas, me.  My problem is that my coding isn't up to the standards I would want to implement them, so I have a notebook full of good web projects waiting for either the right technology or the right partner in programming.  Adam is the man for that, and, it turned out, the man with the right idea at the right time.

The idea that became Threads of Yoga started when Adam began training to be a Yoga teacher, and discovered then a real lack of quality information, especially about yoga classes, online.  We started talking, and I added in the idea of building a community, where people can share Yoga practice, comment on classes...
